Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.09%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Construction and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.09%, while the MDAX index declined 1.43%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.43%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p), which rose 0.61% or 0.42 points to trade at 68.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) added 0.54% or 0.30 points to end at 55.75 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was up 0.54% or 0.14 points to 25.84 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn), which fell 9.65% or 6.60 points to trade at 61.82 at the close. Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) declined 5.67% or 6.46 points to end at 107.40 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) was down 3.04% or 0.96 points to 30.64.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which rose 1.00% to 52.66, Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 38.55 and K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which lost 0.09% to close at 21.48.

The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 4.78% to 28.06 in late trade, Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which lost 4.11% to settle at 41.10 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was down 4.08% to 19.06 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 3.51% to 15.33, Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which was up 0.30% to settle at 47.56 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which gained 0.11% to close at 36.20.

The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 4.78% to 28.06 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which lost 4.34% to settle at 29.06 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was down 4.08% to 19.06 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 511 to 158 and 90 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.97% to 21.80.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.75% or 13.20 to $1,740.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.19% or 0.91 to hit $77.19 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.26 to trade at $83.97 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.56% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 106.36.
