France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.90%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.90%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.87%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX), which rose 3.19% or 4.80 points to trade at 155.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) added 2.79% or 0.55 points to end at 20.28 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 2.39% or 1.01 points to 43.04 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which fell 2.16% or 2.45 points to trade at 110.80 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) declined 1.58% or 0.51 points to end at 32.00 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) was down 1.07% or 1.32 points to 121.88.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which rose 4.59% to 10.71, Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which was up 4.27% to settle at 94.10 and BIC (EPA:BICP) which gained 3.21% to close at 69.10.

The worst performers were Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which was down 4.60% to 62.20 in late trade, Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which lost 4.53% to settle at 8.00 and Television Francaise 1 SA (EPA:TFFP) which was down 2.80% to 5.72 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 335 to 191 and 101 ended unchanged.

Shares in Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.60% or 3.00 to 62.20. Shares in BIC (EPA:BICP) rose to 3-years highs; rising 3.21% or 2.15 to 69.10.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.64% or 27.50 to $1,649.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.31% or 2.95 to hit $86.16 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.63% or 2.49 to trade at $92.08 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 0.97, while EUR/GBP rose 0.91% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.90% at 113.26.
